"Item Not Found" window coming after a picture file deletion from Windows 2003 file server, however the file gets deleted.

Hello,

I am currently facing an issue from windows 8.1 machine. We have few windows file server with Windows Server 2003 Standard edition. When I am trying to delete any picture file (.dib, .jpg etc) from one of our filer share, the file gets deleted, but after deletion, its showing "Item Not Found" window. When I'm click on cancel button of it, the deleted file is still showing on the file share, but after a refresh, its getting disappeared. The issue is only happening for one file share server, for the other filer servers, the picture files gets deleted without any issue. The other file servers (where no issue detected) have the same configuration as that on (for which we are not able to delete picture files from win 8.1 machine). We are successfully able to delete picture files from other version of windows machines. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

If you are facing this error and could not delete a file, we could try delete it without any prompt by using command. However, according to your description, seems like you cannot delete all picture files from certain file share. The reasonable explanation is that your client repeats this deletion so you will get this error and the file still get deleted.

Following the steps as mentioned for Windows server 2003

You cannot delete a file or a folder on an NTFS file system volume

Compare to other Windows server and make sure you have same Update installed.

If the issue still persists, I would recreate/replace this file share, recreate a new folder and move all share files to new share. Delete the old one and rename new share if it is necessary.
